Head Swim Coach – High Performance Program

We are seeking a visionary, results-driven Head Swim Coach to lead our high-performance swim program to new levels of success. This is a rare opportunity to combine elite-level coaching expertise with strategic program leadership, overseeing athlete development from grassroots to international competition while managing the operational, administrative, and cultural excellence of the program.

As the Head Swim Coach, you will set the technical and cultural direction for our team, working closely with athletes, staff, parents, and the community to foster a world-class environment that promotes both performance excellence and personal growth.


Key Responsibilities

Athlete Development & Coaching

  • Design, implement, and continually refine a progressive training curriculum that supports long-term athlete development from age-group to elite performance.
  • Provide hands-on coaching for top-tier athletes aiming for national, collegiate, and international success.
  • Analyze training data and race performance to optimize athlete progress and outcomes.
  • Implement sports science principles, including strength and conditioning, recovery protocols, and performance monitoring.

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches, ensuring consistent technical standards and athlete support across all squads.
  • Develop professional growth plans for coaching staff, encouraging ongoing education and certification.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a growth mindset.

Program Operations & Administration

  • Oversee daily training schedules, competition calendars, and seasonal planning.
  • Manage meet planning, logistics, and compliance with governing body regulations.
  • Ensure smooth internal communications between athletes, parents, coaches, and club leadership.
  • Oversee budget planning, equipment procurement, and travel coordination.

Recruitment & Talent Identification

  • Develop strategies to identify and recruit promising swimmers into the program.
  • Build relationships with feeder programs, schools, and community organizations to maintain a strong athlete pipeline.
  • Support college recruitment processes for athletes aiming to compete at the next level.

Culture & Community Engagement

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture that values hard work, resilience, and sportsmanship.
  • Represent the program within the wider swimming community, including at conferences, clinics, and events.
  • Engage with parents and stakeholders to build strong support for program initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of competitive coaching experience, with 3+ years in a leadership or head coach role.
  • Proven track record of guiding athletes to national, collegiate, or international-level competition.
  • ASCA Level 4/5 certification or equivalent recognized coaching qualification.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to inspire athletes and staff alike.
  • Experience using swim operations platforms (e.g., TeamUnifyHy-Tek Meet Manager).
  • Current CPR/First Aid and SafeSport certification.
  • Knowledge of sports science, athlete periodization, and injury prevention best practices.
